Keeping Track and Keeping You Safe

Peri & Sons Farms is fortunate in that the onions we grow are naturally less susceptible to the types of bacteria and contamination that most often cause food borne illnesses. Rest assured that fact has not made us any less diligent in striving for excellence in our food safety efforts.

For over 30 years, Peri & Sons Farms has developed and practiced the cleanest and safest methods for storing, packing and shipping our premium onions. Along with our many safety certifications, we are also diligently working to complete all seven milestones as prescribed by the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI)—the chain–wide, electronic traceability initiative, developed and driven by the produce industry in 2007 as part of the ongoing evolution to improve and maximize the efficiency of food safety and traceability efforts.

Keeping consumers safe means everything to us, so even before PTI was formally announced, Peri & Sons Farms had an excellent internal traceability system in place. We understand the importance of a standardized, industry–wide system to ensure everyone is making the same efforts in protection that we’ve been making for years, and we whole–heartedly support the mission of PTI and consider the substantial investment of time and resources highly worthwhile.

As of June 1, 2010, Peri & Sons Farms is proud to say we are tracking ahead of like–sized companies having reached the first three milestones and being on course to successfully reach the next milestones by 2012.

Please contact our sales and marketing team if you have any questions about our plans and progress concerning PTI.
