The U.S. Clean Food Standard is a voluntary best-practice standard for food producers aimed at identifying fresh grown foods that meet exceptional standards of product purity. The first important step toward achieving NutriClean certification under the comprehensive Clean Food Standard involves meeting or exceeding the testing requirements of GlobalGap, Tesco’s Nature’s Choice and SQF Pest Management Program. SCS’s NutriClean label is reserved for products that undergo SCSs’ rigorous certification program, involving full disclosure of pest management practices, evaluation of pest management practices, on-site “worst-case” sampling of products, and laboratory testing to confirm that there are no pesticide residues present at levels above laboratory detection capabilities. This program remains the most stringent standard of its kind; its level of detection generally being 10 to 1,000 times more stringent than required by law. More than two decades later, this program remains the most stringent standard of its kind, providing maximum assurance to consumers looking for products that are pesticide free.
