Giving From the Heart

The Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) developed a special From the Heart award that is only occasionally awarded by the BCGA’s National Organization in Atlanta, GA. in special recognition of a business, organization or individual who has a special place in the “Heart of the Club”. The BCGA feels strongly about this distinguished award so it is only presented for exceptional service.

In 2008 Peri & Sons Farms of Yerington, Nevada was the first recipient of the From the Heart award in the area; in fact, in the 10-year history of the Boys and Girls Club of Mason Valley, there have only been two recipients of this prestigious award.

Travis Crowder, Chief Program Officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Mason Valley (BGCMV) has much to say in recognition of the Peri's support. “It goes without saying that the Boys & Girls Club of Mason Valley would not exist today if not for the tremendous and enduring support of David and Pamela Peri of Peri & Sons Farms, along with support from their employees, family and friends.” says Crowder.

As founding sponsors, the Peri’s have supported a host of BCG programs including:

  • Sole sponsorship of all Onion Festival pageant winners; providing several thousands of dollars to girls of all ages for scholarships and prizes over the past three years
  • Initial and continuous support for the “Night in the Country” fundraising event
  • Lead donors every year for the BGCMV Annual Giving Campaign
  • As a part of the Annual Giving Campaign, Peri and Sons Farms’ employees raised a record amount of $20,000 in just two hours for the VIP Lock-Up fundraiser
  • In 2007, when BCGMV was faced with unforeseeable debts, the Peri’s rallied support; BCGMV ending up receiving more than double their goal for the 2007 Annual Giving Campaign.
  • In addition to their rallying efforts for the 2007 campaign, Peri and Sons Farms graciously contributed 10 times their regular annual contribution
  • Peri and Sons Farms consistently provides support when called upon

The Peri’s support also goes out to the community in a host of other ways including:

  • Various Yerington High School programs including: yearbook, football, wrestling, etc.
  • Yerington Elementary School’s Jump Rope program
  • Various fundraising activities for Yerington Intermediate School
  • Donations to Yerington Senior Center
  • Various area youth groups including: YHS Rodeo, 4H, YHS girl’s softball, Little League etc.
  • Smith Valley High School
